'Io Capitano' nominated for an Oscar

The movie directed by Matteo Garrone officially enters the five nominees for the 2024 Oscar for Best International Film.
The acclaimed film by Italian director Matteo Garrone, "Io capitano", continues its remarkable journey and achieved the official nomination for Best International Movie at the 96th Academy Awards. The ceremony will be held on March 10, 2024, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
The movie won the 35th CICT-ICFT Enrico Fulchignoni Award at the 25th Euromediterranean Conference on Cinema, a recognition that preceded the award of the Silver Lion for Best Director to Matteo Garrone by the jury of the 80th Venice International Film Festival. In previous editions, the Fulchignoni Award jury had already recognized and grasped the potential and specificity of other films.
